Reimagine
Connection
In leadership and life.
Because people, not hierarchies, are the centre of everything.
Lana Johnston
Hi, I’m
A strategist, facilitator, and author working across systems, workplaces, and families to bring connection back to the centre of how we live, work and lead.
For the last 20+ years, I’ve helped organisations transform how they work — leading transformations in the corporate world and guiding teams through complex change.
I’ve also sat across the table from ageing parents and loved ones, holding the weight of confusion and quiet heartbreak.
And here’s what I’ve learned from both worlds: Connection isn’t a luxury. It’s a necessity. It makes everything in life and business possible.
I started in HR and finance before moving into strategy and transformation. I’ve worked on major initiatives and have always focused on culture, engagement, and empathising with what change feels like for the other person.
Over time, my own experiences with family ageing deepened my perspective — and led me to found Connection with Lana. Connection with Lana is a more personal arm of my work that offers tools and support, helping you create beautiful spaces and experiences to connect with the important people in your life.
That work eventually became the foundation for my book, Small Moments. Strong Bonds (Turn Regret into Connection with your Ageing Loved One), where you will discover how to shift from tactical to deliberate connection, how to build a simple practice for meaningful moments and how to avoid future regret by making time now — not later.
“Lana translates strategy into real-world action, engaging others through her inclusive and pragmatic style.”
Andrea Joseph, Global HR Executive
I’m not here to preach perfection.
I’m here to help people and systems create conditions where connection can flourish — even in the messiness of real life.
The human thread
In corporate rooms, connection shapes culture.
In aged care sector settings, it defines quality.
In families, it’s what we carry — long after the practical tasks are done.
My work lives at the intersection of systems and soul — helping people and places stay tethered to what really matters. Sometimes, that looks like strategic planning and co-design. Sometimes, it’s a workshop or a keynote. Sometimes, it’s simply a conversation that helps someone feel less alone in what they’re carrying.
